Caliber receives ESGR award

The Military Spouse Advocacy Network’s (MSAN) ultimate goal is to develop and increase leadership presence in our military and local communities to bring change and positive impact to existing challenges by providing official and professional leadership training for military spouses.

This organization developed the MSLDP for the development of leaders who can serve and lead efforts in local communities in their respective areas of interest/expertise. In the fall 2021, a diverse cohort of 50 military spouses (part veteran spouses and some with active-duty service members) came together to receive leadership training from top military leaders, impactful voices in the community and micro-certifications.

After graduation, the recipients of the training through this program have opportunity to remain connected to the MSLDP Alumni network, become MSAN Mentors, community advocates and leaders in their local communities/expertise as well as join existing service initiatives. Most importantly, the program will hopefully leave feeling seen, heard and empowered to act. They will have the opportunities to make a difference that will benefit their community.

The 4-month program included live virtual training, weekly assignments & engagements, a networking event and a graduation ceremony. The military spouses hailed from all ethnicities, ages, sex, education and ranks. Participants received training in the areas of Meta and Crisis Leadership from Harvard University- National Preparedness Leadership Initiative.

The spouses also received training in Communications and Collaborating for Greater Impact from the McCrystal Group and they received training and earned micro-certifications in mental health allyship from Psych Hub. Throughout the program, spouses heard from influential panel participants and guest speakers.

At the end of the program, all participants received a Leadership Certificate from Harvard University. The graduates are providing motivation and opportunities to other military spouses to join their service, leadership, mentorship and advocacy efforts in areas such as Mental Health & Wellness, Career & Employment, Education, Financial Readiness, Deployment & Reintegration.

The program is creating a ripple effect of positive change in communities around the world, beginning with the initial cohort of 50 selected participants. The military spouses reflect the fabric of our diverse military community and have the potential to become the catalyst for long-lasting community development.
