Caliber Home Loans partners with UDT-SEAL Association

Caliber Home Loans has long recognized the need for continuing education around financial health and wellness, especially for the military community. By partnering with the UDT-SEAL Association, the two organizations hope to support America’s Armed Forces at every stage of their lives.

For Navy SEAL veteran spouse Michelle Crumley, it’s personal. As the Military Client and Community Liaison, her role lies in serving those who serve. Her beginnings in finance took root when she and her husband were stationed in Alaska. Crumley saw the deep need for education around budgeting and planning throughout the military journey.

“My husband spent his whole career in the teams…so I’ve lived through it all with my husband,” she shared. After purchasing their third home in Kodiak, the power of home buying and finance planning really resonated with her. She began working in the mortgage industry and loved bringing her knowledge to other military families.

“These guys and their spouses, some of them start when they are really young in the military…depending where you are in your military career and life – you have different challenges and opportunities that are there,” she explained. Through the partnership with the UDT-SEAL Association, she hopes to shine light on these issues and provide vital education for their members.

Each year, finances remains one of the top stressors for military families through the annual Blue Star Families Military Family Lifestyle Survey. “We are really trying to encompass what Caliber can do in partnership with the UDT-SEAL Association in trying to provide resources and education for these guys and their families. The intent is to help them learn and position themselves for prosperity,” Crumley said.

The UDT-SEAL Association exists to ensure that America’s Naval Special Warfare members have what they need to succeed, while also supporting their families. Founded 49 years ago, their mission remains the same. The goal of the nonprofit is to continue to fill the gap where the Navy and Department of Veterans Affairs cannot help. Their association chapters are located throughout the country those who are actively serving and those who have served.

Caliber Home Loans has been partnering with the UDT-SEAL Association for a while now. The development of the financial series just made sense. The Wellness for Life concept was developed through recognizing the needs of the SEALs and their families. “We are going to work with them all the way through. From service to transition to life after the teams… really helping to pull in the spouses as well,” Crumley said.

Beginning in July, both organizations will come together to host a series of workshops a few times a quarter to highlight pertinent topics impacting the SEALs and their families. There will be multiple avenues available in order to target each service member where they are in their military career.

By uniting in a shared mission to educate and serve these members and their families, they hope to assist them in navigating the challenging waters they’ll be in. The Wellness for Life series will aim to assist in maximizing resources, saving capability and promote a healthy financial future.
